As Christians, we are all familiar with The Great Commission.
In other words, we are all missionaries. The question is how well are we doing?
I remember when my wife and I were on a bus tour of Europe. The bus was packed with over 40 tourists – most of them older than we were. During this 3 week bus tour, we found ourselves in a new country almost every day.
It was Sunday. We were traveling and I realized that I would not have an opportunity to attend a worship service. I felt almost guilty. It dawned upon me that we could at least do something. After wrestling with God. I walked to the front of the bus. As I made my way down the aisle to the back of the bus, I informed each of my fellow tourists that I would lead a short devotional service at the next stop. I invited them to meet with me to the left of the bus exit if they were interested.
Frankly I was horrified. What would these people think? After all, I was stuck with them for another 2 weeks!
The moment came. The bus stopped. I was the first on off the bus and stood to the left of the stairs that exited the bus.
ALMOST EVERYONE CIRCLED UP!
It was not a profound sermon. But we closed with a hymn followed by a prayer. Oddly, just after the final “amen” dozens of clocks struck 12. We were at a clock factory in the Black Forest of Germany. The bells rang out.
From that point forward, Christians were everywhere on that bus. Bibles came out. I was called upon to say a blessing before meals. It was total and complete victory!
But it never would have happened if I did not overcome my fear. The boldness God gave me in that moment has lasted a lifetime. That’s why I wanted to share it with you here.
What’s the boldest thing you’ve ever done for Christ? When was it?
Never be satisfied with either answer!
That’s what I think. I’m interested in your thoughts. There’s lots of ways to hit me up so let me hear from you.
